The first ever cover design by ilton Keynes artist Peter Osborne. He usually only works in black and white but has added colour to produce a striking design.
The artist features Samuel Pepys, the famous British diarist, watching a Punch and Judy show to form a link with the modern day character. Pepys recorded seeing a performance of Pollicinella at Covent Garden, London, in 1662. This character later became Punchinello and then Mr Punch.
Companion cover to the Seaside P&J cover FDC 049.
The complete set of Royal Mail Punch & Judy stamps have been cancelled on their first day of issue at Covent Garden.
