The logo on this limited edition Smiler is that of the Channel Islands Occupation Society. They research and commemorate the ocupation of the Channel Islands during World War Two. The logo is derived from the badge of "Force 135" who arrived to liberate the islands on 9th May 1945.
A small contingent of Force 135 sailed from Portsmouth aboard HMS' Bulldog and Beagle on 8th May. The German surrender was accepted at Guernsey at 07.15 on May 9th. By 22.00 that evening all the islands had been liberated.
The Channel islands Occupation Society museum was opened in 1966 and has continued to develop since then. It is now forging closer links with Bletchley Park.
